The last years have Azerbaijani National Association attempted to inform the public in Sweden on the massacre in khojaly. Unfortunately in the case of the massacre in khojaly the Social Democrats have shown double standards from one side in the case of the massacre in khojaly the Social Democrats have ignored the event. But from the other side they have assumed a very active role in the Armenian genocide that Armenians claim has happened ...............
As part of the war that Armenia began in Azerbaijan in 1988, which among other things, resulted in 20% of Azerbaijan's territory still under Armenian occupation, was killed in a brutal way the night of February 26, 1992 residents in the community Khojaly (Xocali) in enclave Nagorno-Karabakh.
On 26 February 1992 killed the Armenian military troops, aided by the 366e battalion of the Russian army, the inhabitants of Khojaly (Xocali) and then align the city with the ground. Established statistics say that the troops robbed 613 innocent civilians, of whom 106 were women, 70 elderly and 83 children. Also missing are still data completely on the 150, and 1275 people are in captivity.
To prove this, there are pictures and video evidence. It is well documented and international non-partisan sources confirm this event. The last years Azerbaijani National Association have attempted to inform the public in Sweden. Unfortunately in the case of the massacre in khojaly the Social Democrats have shown double standards from one side they ignore the case of the massacre in khojaly. But from the other side they have taken a very active role in the Armenian genocide that Armenians claim has happened. Sattar Sevgin chairman of the Azerbaijani National Association got the chance to meet Mona Sahlin, former leader of the Social Democrats, March 2010. Sattar Sevgin gave her material about Khojaly massacre and tried to verbally explain what has happened. Mona Salin yielded no concrete support and answers. Because of this AFI is critical of the Social Democrats' hypocrisy. When the Swedish Parliament recognized the Armenian genocide, 11th March 2011, a few days afterwards AFI supported the Turkish National Association and participated in demonstrations against the decision of Parliament in central Stockholm.
Down here you can read AFI’s appeal and statements to Parliament on Khojaly massacre:
To the Swedish government on the occasion of the ethnic cleansing that took place in Khodjaly (Xocali) February 26, 1992
As part of the war against Azerbaijan that Armenia began in 1988, which among other things, resulted in Armenian occupation of 20% of Azerbaijani territory, residents in the Khodjaly (Xocali) community in the Nagorno-Karabakh enclave were killed in a brutal manner on the night of February 26, 1992.
On February 26, 1992 the Armenian military forces, aided by the battalion Nr. 366 of the Russian army, killed the inhabitants of Khodjaly (Xocali) and then destroyed the city. Established statistics say that the troops deprived 613 innocent civilian lives, of which 106 were women, 70 old men and 83 children. Additionaly, 150 persons are still missing and 1275 persons are held in captivity.
The ethnic cleansing that took place occurred in brutal forms. The brutal perpetrators did not only kill the innocent, unarmed civilians - mostly women, elderly and children, they also, among other things, cut off the ears of the children and protruded their eyes.Women's breasts were cut off, and pregnant women's bellies were cut up and the babies was carved. Trying to describe the brutality may seem unnecessary, but in this case should be regarded as necessary.
Although 19 years passed since the ethnic cleansing of Azerbaijanis in Khodjaly (Xocali) by the Armenian and Russian troops on
As a continuation of this injustice 20% of Azerbaijani territory is still under the Armenian occupation - this despite the UN resolutions 822 (1993), 853 (1993), 874 (1993) and 884 (1993) that request that the Armenian troops evacuate and return the occupied Azerbaijani territories.
Azerbaijanis in Sweden believe that the international world community through its inaction and lack of concrete condemnation bears a large share of responsibility for the injustice committed and still being committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis.
Azerbaijani Federation of Sweden addressed to the Swedish Parliament with the following requests:
1. Swedish Parliament recognizes the cleansing that took place in Khodjaly (Xocali) on 26 of February 1992 as ethnic cleansing of Azerbaijanis.
2. Measures are taken so that UN decisions on four resolutions stating Armenia’s obligation to return the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, are respected by Armenia and the Swedish government works for this matter.
3. Sanctions against Armenia are taken in order to enable the one million Azerbaijani refugees to return to their homes.
4. Armenia is recognized as an occupying power as a result of the occupying 20% of the Azerbaijani territory.
